A Great DIY Home Assessment Tool

Click the button below to get an important guide for conducting a DIY assessment to determine how prepared your home is to survive in the event of a wildfire.  The guide provides a scoring system that will guide you to a better understanding of which factors make your home vulnerable and enable you to better prioritize improvements you can make.  The guide also includes a section that will help you assess if you need to make improvements to help first responders defend your property.

The guide was prepared with the assistance of Jack Cohen, a former research scientist with the U.S. Forest Service who is a pre-eminent researcher on wildfire and home ignitions, and a founder of the Firewise® Communities/USA recognition program. Thanks to Lauren Robertson for finding this gem from MCFSC’s past.
