Firewise USA®

The Mendocino County Fire Safe Council will help your NFSC navigate the process of becoming a recognized Firewise USA site.

Firewise USA® offers national recognition and certification as a Firewise Community – a greater level of neighborhood coordination and preparedness – by providing a process for taking action and becoming more resistant to wildfire risks. If most homeowners in a neighborhood clean up their yards and fireproof their homes, the whole community is much less vulnerable to fire.

Benefits of Firewise Communities include:

• Creating a culture of readiness and action that can save lives and homes in the event of a wildfire

• Working together to identify risks and solve problems that would be difficult to address alone

• Taking advantage of insurance company discounts available to certified Firewise Communities (check out this list from the CA Department of Insurance)
