6) HELP
Just as important as signing up for alerts, preparing your family plan, hardening your home and creating defensible space around your property is organizing with your neighbors and the wider community.
One of the greatest threats to your home is a vulnerable property nearby, and you and your neighbors share the same egress routes in an emergency. Remember that your home may be only as safe as your neighbors’ homes, and encourage and support them to prepare as well as they can.
By preparing as a community, and assisting others who need help, you increase everyone’s chances of surviving and thriving in our wildfire-prone environment.
Start by watching our short video about community action, then find out if there is already a Neighborhood Fire Safe Council in your area. If there isn’t, learn about how to start one.
